The Star on Hijab Murder – It “can divide families”

The Toronto Star is shamelessly fronting for radical islam in a story of a poor teenage muslim girl whose father strangled her for refusing to wear a hijab (muslim head covering). She died in hospital today. Instead of trotting out their resident radical feminist Michelle Lansberg to rail against an evil controlling father murdering his own daughter in an attempt to force her to wear religious garments they trot out an apologetic piece.

“The tension can exist both ways” they say, yes… he strangles her, she dies, its a vicious cycle of violence. “Research shows” they crow, that “the decision to wear the hijab – the traditional Muslim headscarf – is almost always a choice the girl makes on her own” Unless of course her decision is overrided by her father’s hands on her throat. That might make such decision making difficult.

They go on to quote a muslim woman saying: “the tension more often exists the other way around – when girls who want to wear the hijab are discouraged by their families because they fear it will make them the targets of racism”. Yes, because we’ve all been hearing about the murders of muslim women by complete strangers, compelled to murder them because they are muslim. Practically happens every day in Toronto, right? The actual score on this issue:

Muslim women killed by racists in Toronto: 0
Muslim women strangled by their own father for daring not to wear the Hijab: 1.

There is no overtime, although I suppose there could have been a shootout if the poor victim had been able to get her father off of her.

They end it with this quote: “I would just explain why I wear it and if they choose to do so, then great and if not then that’s great.” Give me a break. This girl never had the chance. She was a human being with inalienable rights to accept or reject what she has been taught by her family and community. Unfortunately, her community doesn’t recognize the idea of ‘inalienable rights’ or maybe she’d still be alive. For the first time in my life I wish the star actually had trotted out Landsberg.

That’s exactly what I was thinking – Where is the feminist outrage today?

“Feminists had no response to this tragedy.”

“They were last seen celebrating their victory over a popular doll’s exaggerated breast size while advocating the unhindered destruction of unborn babies.”
